Manju Pillai
Malayalam film actress. She was born on May 11, 1976 in Ettumanoor, Kottayam. Her father NK Narayana Pillai was an engineer at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Center and her mother is Shobhana. Moved to Thiruvananthapuram from Ettumanoor as a child. Did her schooling from St. Goretti Convent School, Nalanjira. She did her degree in Economics from Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram. While studying in tenth grade, Manju started her professional career by participating in Suryakrishnamoorthy's Light & Sound Stage Show.
Manju Pillai made her acting debut in the 1991 telefilm Tathamme Poocha Poocha. Manju's first serial was Sathyavum Mithyayum. Malayalam TV audience became familiar with her through many programs in Doordarshan. She then starred in several serials on various channels. She won the State Television Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the serials Devaranjini and Sethuvinte Kathakal in 2000-2001. In 2002, she won the same award again for her performance in the series Sundaranmaarum Sundarikalum. In 2002-2003, she won the Television Award for Best Actress for her role in Ali Akbar's TV series Sundarikalum Sundarimaarum.
Manju who has starred in a number of popular TV shows and commercials handles humour with her distinctive natural flair. Her movie career commenced in 1992. Manju's first film was Sabarimalayil Thanka Suryodayam. She has acted in over 50 films in a variety of roles. Manju Pillai has acted with Kamal Haasan in the Tamil film Manmathan Ambu. Acting as a judge and anchor on TV reality shows, Manju has an active presence in the television and film industry. She played distictive roles in Adoor Gopalakrishnan's Naalu Pennungal and MP Sukumaran Nair's Ramanam and Jalamsham. The role of Kuttiamma, her role as mother in the movie #Home, which was released in 2021, was much discussed in the new media.
Manju Pillai is the granddaughter of the famous film actor SP Pillai. Manju Pillai was married to cinematographer Sujith Vasudev. They have a daughter. Name- Daya Sujith.
